एको वेदश्चतुष्पादैः क्रियते द्विजहेतवे । इतिहासपुराणानि भिद्यंते लोकगौरवात्

eko vedaścatuṣpādaiḥ kriyate dvijahetave | itihāsapurāṇāni bhidyaṃte lokagauravāt

L’unique Veda est rendu quadruple pour le bien des dvija (deux fois nés) ; et les Itihāsa ainsi que les Purāṇa sont aussi distingués, pour l’honneur et la guidance du monde.
