वृद्धत्वे हि समश्राति नरो वै नात्र भविष्यति । तस्माद्देशे च काले च सुपात्रे विधिना नरः । शुभार्जितं प्रयुञ्जीत श्रद्धया शाठ्यवर्जितः
vṛddhatve hi samaśrāti naro vai nātra bhaviṣyati | tasmāddeśe ca kāle ca supātre vidhinā naraḥ | śubhārjitaṃ prayuñjīta śraddhayā śāṭhyavarjitaḥ
Dans la vieillesse, l’homme décline assurément—il n’en est point de doute. Aussi, au lieu et au moment convenables, à un récipiendaire digne, qu’il offre selon le dharma ce qui fut acquis avec droiture, avec foi et sans tromperie.
