बृहस्पतिरुवाच । सामपूर्वं स्मृता नीतिश्चतुरंगामनीकिनीम् । जिगीषतां सुरश्रेष्ठ स्थितिरेषा सनातनी

Transliteration

bṛhaspatiruvāca | sāmapūrvaṃ smṛtā nītiścaturaṃgāmanīkinīm | jigīṣatāṃ suraśreṣṭha sthitireṣā sanātanī

Translation

Bṛhaspati dit : «Ô le meilleur des dieux, la conduite de celui qui cherche la victoire est tenue en mémoire comme commençant par sāma, la conciliation, appliquée à l’armée aux quatre corps. Telle est la méthode éternelle, consacrée par le temps, pour qui veut conquérir.»
