Sūta (contextual continuation from v.60)
Tirtha: Kuṇḍa-dvaya (Sarasvatī–Gāyatrī) on Gandhamādana
Type: kund
Listener: Brāhmaṇas/ṛṣis; by extension all devotees
Scene: A devotional gathering: a reciter reads the chapter aloud; listeners sit with folded hands; above them, a visionary overlay shows the twin kuṇḍas, indicating that the merit of snāna is invoked through sound and devotion.
Devotional listening/recitation (śravaṇa-pāṭha) is upheld as spiritually equivalent to physically performing a tīrtha bath.
The ‘tīrtha-dvaya’ (pair of sacred tīrthas/kuṇḍas) whose māhātmya is narrated throughout Adhyāya 40.
Śravaṇa (hearing) and pāṭha (recitation) of the chapter with bhakti are prescribed as a means to gain tīrtha-snānaphala.
