अयमेव हि पुत्रो मे नान्योऽस्ति तनयो मुने । अस्मिन्मृते तु वंशो मे समुच्छिद्येत्समूलतः
ayameva hi putro me nānyo'sti tanayo mune | asminmṛte tu vaṃśo me samucchidyetsamūlataḥ
Celui-ci est vraiment mon fils unique, ô sage; je n’ai point d’autre enfant. S’il venait à mourir, ma lignée serait entièrement tranchée, déracinée jusqu’à la racine.
