महादेव उवाच । मुने सुचरिताद्य त्वं वरं वरय कांक्षितम् । वरं दातुं तवायातः पुण्येस्मिन्नाश्रमे शुभे । इतीरितो मुनिः प्राह महादेवं दयानिधिम्
mahādeva uvāca | mune sucaritādya tvaṃ varaṃ varaya kāṃkṣitam | varaṃ dātuṃ tavāyātaḥ puṇyesminnāśrame śubhe | itīrito muniḥ prāha mahādevaṃ dayānidhim
Mahādeva dit : «Ô sage Sucharita, aujourd’hui choisis la grâce que tu désires. Je suis venu dans cet āśrama saint et propice pour t’accorder un don.» Ainsi interpellé, le sage s’adressa à Mahādeva, trésor de compassion.
