Varuṇa
Tirtha: Jaṭā-tīrtha
Type: ghat
Listener: Śuka (and the assembled twice-born as secondary audience)
Scene: Dattātreya, serene and radiant, performs ablution at a luminous coastal tīrtha; the water glows as if infused with mantra, and his form is shown dissolving into a Brahman-like effulgence while sages witness in silence.
When the antaḥkaraṇa is purified, the seeker becomes fit for Brahman-abidance (brahmākāra).
This tīrtha—Jaṭā-tīrtha in the Setu region.
Abhiṣecana/snāna at the tīrtha as a means to inner purification.
