Bondage and Liberation: The Prakṛti–Karma Wheel and Śiva as the Transcendent Cause
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
It teaches disciplined yet compassionate Shaiva practice: the devotee’s vrata or sādhana should be sincere and properly aligned with real-life conditions, so devotion to Pati (Shiva) remains steady rather than forced or negligent.
Linga-worship is upheld through regular observance (pūjā, japa, vrata). This verse emphasizes choosing a sustainable period—ekāha, navāha, or maṇḍala—so Saguna worship becomes continuous and orderly, supporting inner purification and devotion.
Undertake a Shiva-observance for 1 day, 9 days, or a maṇḍala cycle with appropriate daily discipline—typically including Panchakshara japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), Linga-pūjā, and regulated conduct—adjusted to one’s time and circumstances.
