The Account of Creation Beginning with Śakti
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Role: creative
Cosmic Event: initial agitation (kṣobha) of pradhāna and puruṣa initiating manifestation
It presents Śiva as Pati (the Supreme Lord) who, by His māyā-śakti, initiates the movement of cosmic principles—showing that creation is not independent, but governed by Maheśvara, and liberation comes by turning from Pradhāna-Puruṣa entanglement toward the Lord.
As Saguna, Śiva is worshipped as the immanent Lord who pervades and regulates all tattvas; the Liṅga symbolizes that all manifested nature and consciousness rest in Him, while He remains transcendent beyond them.
Meditatively contemplate Śiva as the inner governor of both body (Prakṛti/Pradhāna) and awareness (Puruṣa), repeating the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” to disentangle from māyā and abide in the Lord as the true Self.
