It links correct tattva-understanding (from Śakti up to Śiva-tattva) with practical purification: when worship is performed with pure, sattvic/viraja mantras, the practitioner’s rajas-born impurities are burned, making the mind fit for Śiva-realization (Pati-jñāna) in a Shaiva Siddhanta sense.
Linga-worship typically joins knowledge and rite: the devotee contemplates Śiva as the highest tattva while offering with consecrated mantras. The verse emphasizes that mantra-guided offerings are not merely external—they refine the worshipper, enabling approach to Saguna Śiva as a doorway toward the supreme Śiva-tattva.
Perform mantra-japa and, where appropriate, homa/offerings with “viraja” (purified, disciplined) mantras—such as Panchakshara-centered worship—so that rajas and mental impurity are reduced and inner steadiness for dhyāna on Śiva increases.
