वीरभद्रक्रोधशमनं देवस्तुतिश्च
Pacification of Vīrabhadra and the Gods’ Hymn
ब्रह्मादय ऊचुः । जय शंकर देवेश दीनानाथ महाप्रभो । कृपां कुरु महेशानापराधं नो क्षमस्व वै
brahmādaya ūcuḥ | jaya śaṃkara deveśa dīnānātha mahāprabho | kṛpāṃ kuru maheśānāparādhaṃ no kṣamasva vai
Brahmā et les autres dieux dirent : « Victoire à Toi, Śaṅkara — Seigneur des dieux, refuge des affligés, ô Grand Maître. Accorde-nous ta grâce, ô Maheśāna, et pardonne vraiment notre offense. »
Brahma and the other Devas (Brahmādayaḥ)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Mantra: jaya śaṅkara deveśa dīnānātha mahāprabho | kṛpāṃ kuru maheśāna aparādhaṃ no kṣamasva vai
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
Offering: dhupa
It highlights śaraṇāgati (surrender) to Pati (Śiva) by even the highest beings, showing that liberation and protection come through humility, repentance, and Shiva’s anugraha (grace).
The verse addresses Saguna Shiva—Śaṅkara, Devēśa, Maheśāna—invoked as a compassionate Lord who responds to devotion; such personal prayer is central to Linga-worship where the devotee seeks forgiveness and divine favor.
A practical takeaway is aparādha-kṣamā-prārthanā (a forgiveness prayer) alongside japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” offered with a humble mind as an act of repentance and surrender.
