Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: Not a jyotirliṅga episode; the verse frames Śiva as the transcendent Lord who empowers Brahmā with vijñāna and enables sarga.
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: creative
Cosmic Event: kalpa-sarga (cyclic creation)
It establishes Śiva as Pati—the supreme Lord who grants vijñāna (liberating discernment) even to Brahmā, showing that creation proceeds under Śiva’s higher guidance and not merely by independent cosmic agency.
By describing Maheśvara’s ‘great and awe-inspiring form’ and His active governance of creation, the verse supports Saguna worship—approaching Śiva as the personal Lord (often adored as the Liṅga) who bestows knowledge and orders the cosmos.
The takeaway is to seek vijñāna through Śiva-upāsanā: steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with contemplative inquiry into Śiva as the inner Guru who illumines the intellect.
