Enumeration of the Manvantaras and Manus
एकादशे तु पर्याये तृतीयस्यांतरे मनोः । तस्यापि सप्त ऋषयः कीर्त्यमानान्निबोध मे
ekādaśe tu paryāye tṛtīyasyāṃtare manoḥ | tasyāpi sapta ṛṣayaḥ kīrtyamānānnibodha me
Maintenant, dans le onzième cycle — au sein du troisième Manvantara de Manu — écoutez-moi alors que je relate les sept Ṛṣis appartenant à cette période.

Cosmic Event: Manvantara-cycle framing (cosmic administrative epoch within a kalpa).
It situates spiritual history within cosmic time: dharma is preserved in every Manvantara through realized Ṛṣis, and ultimately that order is upheld by Pati (Śiva), the supreme governor beyond cycles.
By framing the narrative around Manvantaras and Ṛṣis, the Purana implies that authentic Śaiva worship (including Linga-upāsanā and devotion to Saguna Śiva) is transmitted through sage-lineages across ages, not invented anew.
The verse points to śravaṇa (reverent listening) as the primary practice—hearing the Purāṇic account with faith; this supports mantra-japa such as the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") as taught through traditional lineages.
