(Bhairava-avatāra-līlā-varṇanam) — “Narration of the Divine Play of Bhairava’s Descent”
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Significance: Darśana/bhakti is likened to sunlight: proximity to Śiva (sannidhi) is itself purifying; pilgrimage and temple-presence function as ‘sannidhi’ in practice.
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
Offering: dipa
It teaches that sincere Shiva-bhakti has a purifying power: when consciousness abides near Śiva (Pati), karmic impurity and sin cannot persist, just as darkness vanishes before sunlight.
Linga-worship is a concrete way to live “in the presence” of Śiva; steady devotion, darśana, and remembrance of Saguna Śiva are presented as the means by which pāpa is dissolved and the devotee is oriented toward liberation.
Regular Shiva-upāsanā—especially japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with a bhakti-centered mind—along with simple daily worship (lamp, water-offering) is the implied practice of staying near Śiva’s presence.
