À cet instant même, les dieux—Indra et les autres—vaincus par lui, cherchèrent refuge auprès du Seigneur Śiva. S’inclinant, ils le louèrent avec une dévotion respectueuse.
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It teaches śaraṇāgati—when even the devas are powerless, they turn to Pati (Śiva), the supreme protector, showing that liberation and protection arise through humility, surrender, and devotion rather than ego or mere power.
The verse highlights approaching Śiva as the accessible, compassionate Lord (saguṇa-Śiva) who grants refuge; in practice this is mirrored in turning to the Śiva-liṅga as the concrete focus for prayer, praise (stuti), and surrender.
Adopt a simple refuge-practice: bow (namaskāra) before Śiva, recite stuti and the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” and cultivate inner humility—seeing Śiva as the sole shelter in संकट (crisis).
