गजासुरतपः–देवलोकक्षोभः

Gajāsura’s Austerities and the Disturbance of the Worlds

स इत्थं निर्जितककुबेकराड् विषयान्प्रियान् । यथोपजोषं भुंजानो नातृप्यदजितेन्द्रियः

Transliteration

sa itthaṃ nirjitakakubekarāḍ viṣayānpriyān | yathopajoṣaṃ bhuṃjāno nātṛpyadajitendriyaḥ

Translation

Ainsi, même après avoir vaincu les souverains des quatre directions et obtenu les objets de jouissance tant aimés, il s’y adonnait à son gré; pourtant, ses sens n’étant pas maîtrisés, il ne connut jamais la satiété. Selon la perspective śaiva, une victoire extérieure sans domination des indriyas ne peut donner la śānti : seule la dévotion à Śiva et la retenue intérieure mènent vers la délivrance.
