Genealogy and Nature

ऊर्द्ध्वं गतिः पुत्रवतां निरुक्ता मनीषिभिर्धर्मभृतां वरिष्ठैः । सर्वाणि भूतानि तदर्थमेवमतः प्रवर्तेत पशून् स्वतेजसः

ūrddhvaṃ gatiḥ putravatāṃ niruktā manīṣibhirdharmabhṛtāṃ variṣṭhaiḥ | sarvāṇi bhūtāni tadarthamevamataḥ pravarteta paśūn svatejasaḥ

Les sages—les plus éminents parmi les soutiens du dharma—ont proclamé que ceux qui ont une descendance digne obtiennent une voie ascendante (un destin plus élevé). Puisque tous les êtres existent pour cette fin même, qu’on mette donc, par sa propre ferveur spirituelle, le bétail et les dépendants sur la juste voie, en les guidant et en les protégeant comme il convient.
