हिरण्याक्ष उवाच । पुत्रस्तु मे चन्द्रललाट नास्ति सुवीर्यवान्दैत्यकुलानुरूपी । तदर्थमेतद्व्रतमास्थितोऽहं तं देहि देवेश सुवीर्यवंतम्
hiraṇyākṣa uvāca | putrastu me candralalāṭa nāsti suvīryavāndaityakulānurūpī | tadarthametadvratamāsthito'haṃ taṃ dehi deveśa suvīryavaṃtam
Hiraṇyākṣa dit : « Ô Seigneur au croissant de lune sur le front, je n’ai pas de fils vaillant, digne de la lignée des Dāityas. C’est pour cela que j’ai entrepris ce vœu sacré. Ainsi, ô Seigneur des Devas, accorde-moi un fils doté d’une grande vaillance. »
