Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
The verse highlights the Shaiva ideal that true spiritual authority rests on dharma, renunciation, and śāstra-jñāna—qualities that prepare the seeker to approach Lord Shiva as Pati (the liberating Lord) and move toward moksha.
By praising a yati grounded in Vedic wisdom, the text frames Shiva-worship as disciplined and scripturally anchored—Linga-upāsanā is best performed with purity of conduct (dharma) and right understanding rather than mere external ritual.
The implied takeaway is steady dharma and sacred study supporting Shiva-bhakti—daily japa of the Panchakshara ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") with a renunciate attitude (vairāgya) is the most fitting practice here.
