शिवस्य आश्वासनं हरि-ब्रह्मणोः तथा शङ्खचूडवृत्तान्तकथनम् / Śiva’s Reassurance to Hari and Brahmā; Account of Śaṅkhacūḍa’s Origin

Sthala Purana: A didactic warning: creating sectarian division between Śiva and Viṣṇu is treated as a grave fault leading to naraka and worldly suffering—an ethical guardrail against bheda-buddhi (divisive cognition).
Significance: Promotes harmony among devotees; avoidance of aparādha (offense) is itself a ‘tīrtha’ of conduct, protecting one’s spiritual progress.
The verse warns that deliberately creating discord is a grave adharma that binds one to painful karmic results—both immediate suffering and post-death torment—opposed to the Shaiva ideal of inner purity and harmony that supports devotion to Shiva.
Linga/Saguna Shiva worship emphasizes śuddhi (purification) and non-malicious conduct; sowing division is treated as an offense (aparādha) that obstructs grace (anugraha) and the steadiness of bhakti necessary for fruitful Shiva-upasana.
Practice daily Shiva-smaraṇa with the Panchakshara mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) along with self-restraint in speech (vāg-niyama) to avoid quarrel-making; cultivate reconciliation as a form of seva aligned with Shaiva dharma.
