Sthala Purana: Colophon (iti…): a textual closure naming the chapter ‘Jalandhara-varṇana’ within Rudrasaṃhitā, Yuddhakhaṇḍa.
Significance: Marks the end of a narrative unit used in pāraayaṇa (scriptural recitation); emphasizes śravaṇa as a devotional act.
This is a colophon marking the completion of a chapter; spiritually, it frames the Jalandhara narrative as Purāṇic instruction where devotion to Śiva and alignment with dharma lead toward liberation, while ego and adharma lead to downfall.
Though not a ritual verse itself, it situates the reader within the Rudra Saṃhitā’s Yuddha-khaṇḍa, where Śiva’s saguna līlā (active divine intervention) is celebrated—supporting faith in Śiva’s protective grace often approached through liṅga-worship.
As a chapter-ending marker, it suggests reflective śravaṇa and manana: recite or study the chapter with the pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), then contemplate the lesson of humility and surrender to Śiva as Pati (the Lord).
