(Devastuti) — Hymn/Praise of the Devas
The Devas (gods)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
It highlights śaraṇāgati (surrender): when worldly power and even divine might fail, the Devas turn to Mahādeva as the supreme Pati—the ultimate refuge beyond all limited agencies.
The Devas address Śiva personally as Mahādeva and Bhagavān, reflecting Saguna devotion—approaching the compassionate Lord who responds to prayers; such refuge is traditionally expressed through Linga worship, mantra, and stotra.
A practical takeaway is to cultivate surrender through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and prayer for protection and purification, especially during crisis or fear.
