(Devastuti) — Hymn/Praise of the Devas
Suta Goswami (narrating the Shiva Purana account to the sages, presenting a praise of Lord Shiva in the Yuddha Khanda context)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Bhairava
Type: stotra
Role: destructive
The verse praises Shiva as the decisive power that burns away demonic tendencies—inner ignorance, ego, and adharmic impulses—so the devotee can move toward purity and liberation under Pati (Shiva) in Shaiva Siddhanta.
It approaches Shiva in Saguna form as Śūlapāṇi, the protector and destroyer of evil; such praise supports Linga worship by focusing the mind on Shiva’s śakti to remove obstacles and uphold dharma, leading the devotee toward deeper realization.
Use this as a short stotra in daily japa: recite with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa, and meditate on Shiva’s trident as the cutting of the three impurities (āṇava, māyīya, kārma) and the burning of inner negativity.
