देवशरणागति-नारदप्रेषणम् | The Devas Take Refuge in Śiva; Nārada Is Sent
जलंधरविनाशाय यत्नं कुरु महामते । त्वं नो दैववशात्प्राप्तस्सदा सर्वार्थसाधकः
jalaṃdharavināśāya yatnaṃ kuru mahāmate | tvaṃ no daivavaśātprāptassadā sarvārthasādhakaḥ
Ô grand d’âme, applique-toi avec ardeur à la destruction de Jalandhara. Par l’ordonnance du destin tu es venu jusqu’à nous, toi qui peux toujours accomplir tout ce qui est requis pour notre juste dessein.
The Devas (addressing Lord Vishnu)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
It teaches that when adharma becomes oppressive, divine help arises through daiva (divine ordinance), and the righteous must still apply determined effort (yatna) while aligning their aim with dharma.
Though addressed to Vishnu in the battle context, the Shiva Purana frames cosmic order as ultimately upheld by Pati (Shiva); devotion to Saguna Shiva through Linga-worship steadies the devotee to act righteously while trusting the higher will behind events.
The practical takeaway is disciplined yatna supported by prayer—daily japa of the Panchakshara ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and offering bhasma/tripundra as a reminder to act from dharma, not fear, when confronting inner 'asuric' tendencies.
