Maya’s Hymn to Śiva
and Śiva’s Gracious Response
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Role: liberating
Cosmic Event: Transformation of inner disposition by divine ordinance (ājñā)
It teaches that Shiva’s anugraha (grace) stabilizes the devotee in fearlessness and pure bhava; when devotion becomes steady, asuric tendencies (impure impulses) are restrained and transformed under the Lord’s governing will.
The promise functions through Saguna Shiva’s personal protection: the devotee who remains anchored in Shiva-bhakti—often expressed through Linga worship, japa, and pūjā—receives inner purification so that hostile or demonic dispositions do not dominate the mind.
A practical takeaway is steady bhakti with mantra-japa (especially the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) to cultivate fearless steadiness and sattvic joy; this supports inner discipline that prevents asuric bhāva from arising.
