त्रिपुरदाहवर्णनम् | Tripura-dāha-varṇanam
Description of the Burning of Tripura
Sūta Gosvāmi (narrating the events to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It affirms the Shaiva principle that auspicious spiritual action begins after obstacles are pacified: when Vināyaka is sincerely honoured and pleased, Śiva’s grace-flow unfolds and the next divine event becomes visible.
In Saguna worship, order and propriety (vidhi) support inner receptivity: pleasing Vināyaka prepares the devotee and the ritual space so that Śiva—often approached through Liṅga-upāsanā—may reveal the next movement of his līlā and bestow unobstructed grace.
Begin worship with Vināyaka-prārthanā (invocation to Gaṇeśa) and then proceed to Śiva-upāsanā—such as japa of the Pañcākṣarī (oṁ namaḥ śivāya)—with the intention of removing impediments and cultivating steady devotion.
