(Tripura-varṇanam) — “Description of Tripura”
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It teaches saṃyama (disciplined restraint) and dāna (giving) as marks of inner Shaiva strength—desire is mastered, and the mind becomes steady and unreactive, fit for Shiva-bhakti and liberation.
Linga-worship is not only ritual but a transformation of conduct: offering up personal cravings and serving others purifies the devotee, making the heart a worthy seat for Saguna Shiva’s grace and the dawning of higher realization.
Practice moderation/fasting according to capacity, redirect comforts into charity, and stabilize the mind with japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” so cravings subside and one becomes steady ‘like a rock’ in devotion.
