Description of the Viṣṇu–Brahmā Dispute and Brahmā’s Confusion
Brahmā (narrating within the Sṛṣṭi-khaṇḍa context, as the creation narrative proceeds)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Role: nurturing
It highlights anugraha (divine grace) as the decisive turning point in the soul’s progress—help arrives not merely by effort, but by the Lord’s compassionate intervention, consistent with Shaiva Siddhanta’s emphasis on grace.
Though Viṣṇu is named here in a saguna form, the Shiva Purana’s broader frame presents all such divine manifestations as operating within the Lord’s cosmic order; devotion to Shiva—often through the Linga—centers on seeking that same anugraha which removes bondage and matures realization.
The practical takeaway is to cultivate receptivity to grace through steady japa (especially the Panchākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and daily Shiva-pūjā (Linga abhiṣeka), performed with humility and surrender.
