Tattva Level: pashu
It highlights how outer appearance can veil inner reality; without spiritual discernment (viveka) and Shiva’s grace, even learned people may fail to perceive the true change or deeper identity behind a form.
Linga-worship trains the devotee to honor Shiva beyond surface attributes—recognizing the divine essence (Pati) behind changing names and forms—whereas ordinary perception clings to externals and misses the truth.
Cultivate steady japa of the Panchakshara ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") with mindful contemplation, so perception becomes inward and subtle—less dependent on outer form and more aligned with Shiva-tattva.
