It teaches that true Shaiva bhakti is measured by inner sincerity and conduct, not by external marks or costume; hypocrisy (dambha) and deceit (chala) are bonds that obstruct Shiva’s grace and should be avoided in spiritual association.
Linga-worship and Saguna Shiva devotion emphasize purity of intention—offering worship with a truthful heart. The verse cautions that adopting Shaiva symbols without genuine devotion turns worship into display, which contradicts the spirit of Linga-upasana.
Choose satsanga carefully and practice honest sadhana—steady japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namah Shivaya) and simple, sincere worship (with bhasma/rudraksha only when matched by right conduct), avoiding showy religiosity.
