Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva Purana teachings to the sages of Naimisharanya within the Rudra Saṃhitā flow)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Significance: General upadeśa: vices (vyasana) are pāśa; pilgrimage/śaraṇāgati to Śiva is implied as the remedy that leads toward anugraha.
Type: stotra
It diagnoses the soul’s bondage: common vices and recurring misfortunes fracture dharma and stability, pushing the seeker to turn from pāśa (bondage) toward Śiva, the Pati, as the liberating refuge.
Recognizing how vice shatters life, the devotee approaches Saguna Śiva through Liṅga-worship for purification and restraint, gradually becoming fit for higher knowledge and grace.
Practical takeaway: adopt daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with simple Liṅga-pūjā and Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) as a discipline of self-control that counters addictive tendencies.
