It teaches that loving, orderly upacāra-pūjā—offering fragrance, light, and food—purifies the devotee’s intention and turns the mind toward Śiva as Pati (the Lord), making devotion a means for inner cleansing and grace.
The listed offerings (candana, dhūpa, dīpa, naivedya) are standard services in Saguna worship, commonly performed to the Śiva-liṅga as the accessible form through which the devotee approaches the transcendent Śiva.
It points to performing Śiva-pūjā with dhūpa-dīpa-naivedya as a disciplined daily or festival practice; inwardly, one can pair each offering with japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—to steady attention and devotion.
