FAQs

The verse emphasizes that Shiva is approached through many sacred modes of invocation—Vedic hymns and pacificatory (śānti) rites—showing that devotion (bhakti) and right ritual orientation can harmonize the world and the seeker’s inner state under Shiva’s lordship (Pati).

Though the verse lists Vedic-style invocations, in Shaiva practice these are directed to Saguna Shiva—the gracious Lord who accepts names, forms, and mantra. Such recitations can be integrated into Linga worship as offerings of sound (nāda) and intention, affirming Shiva as the receiver of all sacred praises.

It suggests śānti-oriented worship: reciting pacificatory mantras (śānti, punaḥśānti) along with Vedic prayers, as a way to remove obstacles and restore auspiciousness—often paired in Shaiva observance with japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and calm, focused meditation on Shiva.
