Brahma
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: This is a pedagogical transition verse (mantra-upadeśa) rather than a place legend; it frames mantra as the means for siddhi in Śiva worship across all shrines.
Significance: Highlights the salvific/efficacious role of mantra-upadeśa; in Siddhānta, upadeśa (instruction) is a form of anugraha that empowers the paśu to engage in right kriyā and progress toward liberation.
Role: teaching
It establishes mantra-upadeśa (initiation/teaching) as a disciplined, attentive transmission: spiritual results arise when sacred sound is received with reverence and practiced carefully, ultimately orienting desires (kāma) and aims (artha) toward Shiva’s grace and higher fulfillment.
In the Rudra Saṃhitā’s creation context, mantras are typically applied to Saguna Shiva worship—especially Linga-pūjā and japa—where sound (mantra) and form (liṅga) work together as supports for devotion, purification, and steady contemplation of Pati (Shiva).
Attentive mantra-japa (repetition with focus) as received from a teacher; in Shaiva practice this commonly aligns with Panchākṣarī japa, supported by purity, right intention, and steady listening/recitation rather than casual repetition.
