Concise Teaching on Liṅga Worship / Śiva-arcana-vidhi
तेषु तेषु च सर्वेषु क्षिपेत्तोयं सुशीतलम् । प्रणवेन क्षिपेत्तेषु द्रव्याण्यालोक्य बुद्धिमान्
teṣu teṣu ca sarveṣu kṣipettoyaṃ suśītalam | praṇavena kṣipetteṣu dravyāṇyālokya buddhimān
Sur chacun d’eux, qu’on répande une eau bien fraîche. Le sage, après avoir considéré chaque objet rituel, doit les asperger en y joignant la puissance sanctifiante du Praṇava, « Om ».

It teaches that outer ritual preparation must be joined with inner sanctification: the materials are purified with cool water, and consciousness is aligned to Śiva through the Praṇava (Om), making the worship fit for divine presence.
Before offering to the Śiva-liṅga (Saguna worship), the devotee consecrates the offerings by sprinkling water while invoking Om, indicating that the act is not merely physical but a mantra-charged offering to Śiva.
A simple saṅkalpa-like purification: inspect the puja items, sprinkle them with cool water while mentally or softly chanting “Om” (Praṇava), treating the act as consecration before Śiva worship.
