Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Significance: Highlights the Siddhāntic priority of guru-smaraṇa as the gateway to Śiva’s grace; the day begins with alignment to the teaching lineage and then to Śambhu.
Role: teaching
The verse teaches that spiritual life begins with disciplined awakening at Brahma-muhūrta and with gratitude-filled remembrance of the Guru, through whom Śiva’s grace and right knowledge become accessible—leading the bound soul (paśu) toward liberation under Pati (Śiva).
Remembering Śambhu upon waking is an inward act of Saguna-Śiva devotion that naturally flows into outer worship—such as approaching the Śiva-liṅga for pūjā, japa, and offering—after aligning one’s mind through Guru-smaraṇa.
Wake at Brahma-muhūrta, mentally bow to the Guru, then remember Śiva and begin japa (commonly the Pañcākṣarī ‘Om Namaḥ Śivāya’) before proceeding to Śiva worship; this is a foundational morning sādhana.
