The verse highlights bhakti expressed as humility and willing obedience: even Viṣṇu acknowledges Śiva as Jagatpati and submits to his ājñā, reflecting the Shaiva Siddhanta emphasis on surrender to Pati (the Lord) as the guiding power.
By addressing Śiva as compassionate Lord of the world and accepting his command, the verse supports Saguna devotion—approaching Śiva as a personal, responsive deity—an attitude foundational to Linga worship where the devotee seeks and follows Śiva’s grace-filled direction.
The practical takeaway is ājñā-anusaraṇa (living by the Lord’s command) supported by bhakti: daily Shiva-smaraṇa with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) while cultivating obedience, humility, and service.
