(Sandhyā-caritra-varṇanam) — “Narration of Sandhyā’s Austerity and Encounter with Śiva”
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Role: liberating
The verse emphasizes that Shiva’s grace (prasāda) is drawn by sincere vrata—disciplined devotion that purifies intention—so the devotee’s inner wish becomes fit to be granted.
It reflects Saguna Shiva’s compassionate responsiveness: through vow-based worship (often performed before the Linga), the devotee approaches Shiva personally, and Shiva grants the intended fruit while bestowing auspiciousness.
It points to vrata-sādhana—regular vows with purity and restraint—supported by Shiva-upāsanā such as japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and simple observances like bhasma/Tripuṇḍra and focused prayer.
