(Sandhyā-caritra-varṇana) — “Account of Sandhyā’s Story”
Lord Shiva (narrating to a sage)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
It portrays Śiva as Pati (the Lord) who subdues and assimilates kāma (desire), indicating that desire is not supreme—only Śiva’s consciousness is, and liberation comes through His sovereignty over the bonds (pāśa).
The verse emphasizes Saguna Śiva as the personal Lord who governs cosmic forces like Kāma; Linga-worship similarly trains the devotee to offer passions into Śiva and return the mind to His abode—steadiness in Śiva-bhāva.
A practical takeaway is to restrain desire through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and inner offering (manasa-pūjā), mentally dissolving agitation into Śiva’s presence.
