Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Vīrabhadra
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: destructive
The verse highlights how disrespect and ego within ritual (yajña) turn sacred action into bondage; when dharma is distorted by hostility toward Śiva and His side, the very sacrifice becomes fit for destruction, teaching that inner reverence and right devotion are essential.
Dakṣa’s sacrificial pride is contrasted with the Shaiva ideal of honoring Śiva as the living Lord (Saguna Śiva) who receives worship through the Liṅga; insulting Śiva’s presence or His devotees undermines the efficacy of ritual and severs it from grace.
The practical takeaway is to perform worship with humility—begin with Śiva-smaraṇa and pañcākṣarī japa ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and maintain reverence toward Śiva-bhaktas; ritual without this inner posture can become spiritually counterproductive.
