It highlights how a single piece of information can set karmic events in motion: Sati’s resolute movement toward Daksha’s yajña becomes the turning point where devotion to Shiva confronts ritual pride and ego.
The verse sits within the Daksha-yajña narrative, where Shiva’s supremacy is not merely ritualistic but devotional and ontological; it prepares the context in which Saguna Shiva’s honor is defended against sacrificial formalism that ignores the Lord.
The takeaway is steadiness in bhakti: before engaging in outer rites, remember Shiva with japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and maintain humility, so that worship does not become mere display like Daksha’s prideful sacrifice.
