It teaches the Shaiva principle of śravaṇa (devotional hearing): listening to Shiva’s sacred narrative refines conduct and character (ācāra, guṇa) and bestows auspicious fruits, indicating that inner purification and grace arise through bhakti-centered engagement with scripture.
By praising the merit of hearing Shiva’s līlā and teachings, it supports Saguna Shiva devotion—kathā-śravaṇa as a complementary limb of worship alongside pūjā of the Śiva-liṅga, cultivating devotion that matures into steadiness in dharma.
A practical takeaway is regular śravaṇa of Shiva Purana kathā (especially on Mondays or Mahāśivarātri) with a devotional vow, optionally paired with simple Śiva worship such as pañcākṣarī japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) to internalize the virtues praised in the verse.
