Viṣṇu’s Manifestation and Brahmā’s Hymn
Lord Shiva (as the supreme principle identifying His manifestation as Rudra)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Type: rudram
Cosmic Event: rudra-prādurbhāva (manifestation of Rudra from Brahmā’s body as a cosmic function-form)
It affirms Shiva as the supreme (Pati) who freely manifests a personal form—Rudra—for the world’s governance, while remaining transcendent; this supports devotion to Saguna Shiva as a valid doorway to liberation.
By declaring that the supreme reality becomes known in the world as “Rudra,” the verse legitimizes worship of Shiva in manifest forms (including the Liṅga) as worship of the Highest, not a lesser deity.
Contemplate Shiva as the supreme who becomes accessible as Rudra, and support that meditation with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) as devotion to Saguna Shiva leading toward realization of the transcendent.
