Departure and Lament in Separation
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: Not tied to a Jyotirliṅga; describes communal bhakti—prostration and praise—before entering the festival-city.
Significance: Models tīrtha-like conduct: approach, praṇāma, stuti, then entry—suggesting that right bhakti is the ‘gateway’ to auspicious participation.
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It highlights bhakti as a complete movement of the soul: joyful approach, humble prostration, and heartfelt praise—an outer journey that mirrors inner surrender to Pati (Lord Śiva).
The verse emphasizes approaching the Lord in a personal, worshipful manner—bowing and glorifying Him—typical of Saguna Śiva devotion, which in Purāṇic practice is often centered on the Śiva-liṅga and temple-utsava worship.
A simple takeaway is to enter Śiva’s abode or temple with reverence: offer praṇāma, recite stotra/namas (or the Pañcākṣarī ‘Om Namaḥ Śivāya’), and maintain a devotional attitude while participating in utsava or darśana.
