Menā’s Lament and Reproach
to the Sage
Parvati
Tattva Level: pashu
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
The verse highlights dharmic correction: when conduct deviates from proper rule and restraint, the devotee-leader (here, Pārvatī) restores order through firm instruction, supporting inner purity that leads toward Śiva’s grace.
Linga/Saguṇa-Śiva worship in the Shiva Purana repeatedly stresses śauca (purity) and maryādā (proper observance). Rebuking improper behavior protects the sanctity of worship and aligns devotees with disciplined devotion.
The practical takeaway is restraint of speech and adherence to prescribed conduct during worship—maintaining purity, following vidhi (ritual rule), and practicing japa with steadiness (e.g., Panchakshara mantra) rather than disorderly behavior.
