Pārvatī’s Discourse: Establishing Śiva as Parabrahman
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: General bhakti teaching: continuous nāma-ucchāraṇa (‘Śiva’) sanctifies the devotee so powerfully that mere darśana of such a person purifies others—an extension of tīrtha-like sanctity to the saint.
Significance: Supports satsanga and darśana of Śiva-bhaktas as a purifier; frames devotees as moving tīrthas due to Śiva’s grace.
Mantra: śiveti
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
It teaches that constant remembrance and utterance of “Śiva” makes a person a living conduit of purity; even their mere presence (darśana) sanctifies others, reflecting Śiva’s grace working through the devotee.
Just as darśana of the Śiva-liṅga purifies the mind, the darśana of one who continually holds Śiva’s name functions similarly—because the devotee’s consciousness is anchored in Saguna Śiva through nāma and bhakti.
Nirantara nāma-japa—steady repetition of “Śiva” or the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya)—and seeking satsanga/darśana of Shiva-bhaktas as a practical means of purification.
