Pārvatī’s Vow of Truth and the Dialogue on Her Tapas
pārvatyuvāca | śṛṇu dvijendra jaṭila madvṛttaṃ nikhilaṃ khalu | sakhyuktaṃ me'dya yatsatyaṃ tattathaiva na cānyathā
Parvati
Tattva Level: pashu
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
The verse establishes satya (truthfulness) and sincere disclosure as the foundation for receiving sacred Shaiva teaching; Pārvatī frames her narrative as a truthful, complete account offered with pure intent.
Though the Liṅga is not named here, Pārvatī’s truthful narration functions as preparatory instruction for Saguna Śiva-bhakti—hearing (śravaṇa) authentic accounts is a key means to deepen devotion that culminates in proper worship.
The direct practice implied is śravaṇa—reverent listening to sacred narration with faith; it supports mantra-japa (such as the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and steady devotional contemplation.
