Pārvatī’s Austerity and Counsel from Himālaya and Others
Narrator (within Rudra Saṃhitā’s Pārvatīkhaṇḍa discourse; traditionally framed by Sūta Gosvāmin conveying the Purāṇic narration)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
It teaches that disciplined tapas (inner heat, restraint, and spiritual effort) becomes a potent means of approaching Sadāśiva, and it emphasizes truthfulness and certainty in the path—Shiva’s worship is affirmed as a reliable way to divine grace and liberation.
In Shaiva practice, tapas culminates in “susevā” (reverent service/worship), commonly expressed as Liṅga-pūjā, mantra-japa, and offerings—approaching Saguna Shiva as Sadāśiva, the compassionate Lord accessible to devotees, while pointing toward the highest auspicious reality.
Undertake tapas with regularity—such as daily mantra-japa (especially the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), disciplined vows/fasting (useful for Mahāśivarātri), and focused worship (pūjā/abhiṣeka) offered to Sadāśiva with truthful intention.
