Brahmā dit : Ô Nārada, écoute avec une joie recueillie ; avec un discernement limpide, je t’exposerai le récit de l’origine de Menā. Avec les sages, je le dirai ici, ô meilleur des fils, ô toi d’une grande intelligence.
Brahma
Tattva Level: pati
Role: teaching
It emphasizes śravaṇa (reverent listening) and viveka (discernment) as proper attitudes for receiving sacred history that supports devotion to Śiva and understanding the divine context of Pārvatī’s lineage.
By introducing Menā’s origin within the Pārvatīkhaṇḍa narrative, it prepares the devotional backdrop for Pārvatī—Śiva’s śakti—whose life and tapas culminate in union with Saguna Śiva, the Lord worshipped as the Liṅga.
The practical takeaway is śravaṇa with devotion—regular listening/recitation of Shiva Purana kathā with a discerning mind—supporting bhakti and steady contemplation of Śiva, even when specific items like bhasma or rudrākṣa are not mentioned in this verse.
