Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Rudra
The verse frames the battle as an outward sign of the cosmic struggle between dharma and adharma; in Shaiva understanding, such events unfold under the Lord’s overarching will (Pati), reminding the listener that egoic power and demonic pride ultimately meet their limit.
Though it describes a battlefield scene, the implied theology is that Saguna Shiva—who governs and protects the worlds—permits and resolves such conflicts; devotees anchor themselves in the Linga as the steady center amid upheaval, trusting Shiva’s protective sovereignty.
A practical takeaway is to cultivate steadiness during fear and intensity by japa of the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and mental remembrance of Shiva as the inner refuge, rather than reacting with agitation like those overwhelmed by “lomaharṣaṇa” (terror).
